What the Charity does

RHM has been set up to help the recently arrived to settle socially and understand the legal procedures operating in the UK in relation to their current conditions. In addition, RHM aims to raise their morale, self-esteem and self-confidence through support, advice, encouragement and guidance. It is envisaged that a multi-disciplinary approach will operate in order to provide encouragement for active integration as UK citizens.

The RHM is going to assist the community it represents by providing information about health issues, language support and training in various professional fields. As well as offering to the RHM community members new learning opportunities, it will make use of their previous work-related skills and experiences, to assist those people in contributing as effectively as possible to the social and economic development of the United Kingdom, which has offered them refuge and sanctuary. The specific aims and objectives of the RHM are as follows:

  • To relieve poverty, hardship and distress, in particular by the provision and assistance in the provision of accommodation, interpreting/translating, advocacy and counselling services relating to health, social and economics issues
  • To advance education through the provision and assistance in the provision of literature, equipment, training and scholarships and to improve educational provision in various countries within Africa
  • To provide or assist in the provision of sport and recreational facilities in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life of such persons who have need of such facilities as aforesaid by reasons of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances
  • To provide advice, assistance and start-up capital to small and micro enterprises in Africa to generate employment and opportunities for the most needy

These objectives will be achieved through a series of activities in the UK.
